Refining Your Gear
Enchanting
Enchanting is the process through which you can improve your Gear. There are two types of enchanting: imbuing and refining. You can do both to any particular piece of Gear.
In order to begin, you must first possess a piece of Gear you wish to enhance, as well as locate an Enchanter–such as Taja in Sunstream City (210, 58). Enchanters can be found in most settlements.
Gear which has been enchanted is far more powerful than unenchanted Gear. Each consecutive time that a piece of Gear is successfully enchanted, it gains (+1) towards the maximum bonus of (+20).
Refining Gear
To refine a piece of Gear select the Refine/Imbue option when speaking to any Enchanter.
Place the Gear you want refined in the Gear slot, a refining talisman in the Talisman slot, and click the Start button.
If the process succeeds, the refinery LV of your item will increase. Each type of Gear gets a different bonus from refining. Helmets will have more Spirit, Armor more Defense, and Boots more Health.
The size of the bonus is exponential so that the benefit of going from +4 to +5 is larger than going from +0 to +1.
However, if your attempt to refine your Gear fails, your Gear will break! Higher LV Gear has a greater chance to break than lower LV Gear. There are items available in both the game world and the in-game Marketplace which can improve your chances of success, and even guarantee the success of every refinery attempt!
Tips
When attempting to refine a piece of Gear, first acquire (either through Crafting or purchasing) a number of the item type you are to be enchanting. At this point, begin refining your Gear to the same stage before refining any of them to the next LV. When you get down to only one item left, you will have the best result you would have had without the risk of ending up with nothing.
Refine your Gear to the LV you desire before you imbue it.
Use Marketplace items to ensure that highly refined Gear is prevented from being destroyed.
